Fantasy Baseball: 2 Start Pitchers Week of 4/25

We’ll only keep tabs on the sleepers because most likely you’re not going to be able to pick up any of the studs in your leagues.  If you do, that’s a league I want to be in!

This will only include stats through Saturday (posted Sunday AM), in order to give you ample time to get your weekly lineups in.

Maholm & Vargas have failed me so far this week.  With the rainout, Maholm is only getting one start too.  Note: I can’t predict the weather.

Normally, I will try to pick these pitchers to get you one win per week and some nice stats.  Despite some quality pitching, so far Beachy is the only one to grab a win; we’ll see what the stats on Sunday bring.

Now onto the next week….

Studs

1.  Jered Weaver (OAK,@TB) – The A’s and the Rays are 3rd to last & 5th to last in Runs scored so far this year. (ERA:  1.23, WHIP: .76)

2.  Felix Hernandez (@DET, @BOS) –“King” Felix over the past 3 years is actually better away; although he’s been a little off to start the season.  (ERA:  3.38, WHIP: 1.24)

3.  Cliff Lee (@ARI, NYM) –  He faces the strong possibility of getting 2 wins, but both Chase Field/Citizen’s Bank Park are hitter parks.  (ERA: 3.91, WHIP: 1.11)

4.  Jaime Garcia (@HOU, @ATL) – He has started well on the road vs. the LAD/SF, and I expect him to continue his strong start this week. (ERA: 1.44, WHIP: 1.08)

5.  Matt Cain (@PIT, @WAS) –  He’s worse on the road, but should still be fine against two NL non-playoff squads (ERA: 3.42, WHIP: 1.23)

Sleepers

1.  Phil Coke (SEA, @CLE) – Will be hard to get a W vs. King Felix & Masterson, but he should bounce back from his latest rocky start. (ERA: 2.75, WHIP 1.27)

2.  Dustin Moseley (ATL, @LAD) – He’s off to a great start, and since he  pitches in Petco, he’s automatically worth a flyer (ERA: 1.40, WHIP: 1.21)

3.  Jon Garland (@FLA,  SD) – He is scheduled to face Moseley and is on the better offensive team, and he does well in pitcher parks.   (ERA: 4.15, WHIP: 1.15)

4.  Wade Davis (@MIN, LAA) – The Mauer-less twins are struggling, and Wade is trying to establish him as the other “Wade” in Florida (ERA: 2.73, 1.18)

5.  Gavin Floyd (@NYY, BAL) – Normally, I don’t like recommending pitchers @ New Yankee Stadium, but the pickin’s are slim this week (ERA: 4.00, WHIP: 1.22)
