Phil Coke my #1 guy was awful against the lowly Mariners @ home this week.  I can’t say I expected that one.  So far, I’m happy with all of my stats with the exception of Wins and ERA.  I’m shooting for an ERA in the low 3’s & at least 4 wins per week (not 4 after 1.5 weeks).  Remember people, these are < 50% owned guys in ESPN leagues.

After a few more weeks, the numbers should come down a little.

Now onto the next week….

Studs

1.  Clayton Kershaw (CHC,@NYM) – He’s facing  two pitchers that don’t hold a candle to the Dodger’s ace (Russell, Dickey).  Guaranteed 2 wins. (ERA:  3.52, WHIP: 1.25)

2.  Jon Lester (LAA, MIN) – Lester has been lights out to start the season, and he’ll face a challenge vs. Haren (#5), but should have 2 quality starts. (ERA:  2.52, WHIP: 1.12)

3.  Tommy Hanson (MIL, @PHI) –  Hanson started off with a few rocky starts, but he has been in the zone.  He faces two contenders in MIL/PHI (ERA: 2.57, WHIP: 1.06)

4.  Justin Verlander (NYY, @TOR) – Verlander has been racking up the K’s, but he needs to give up less runs.  He’s 3-1 vs. Yanks @ Home.   (ERA: 3.64, WHIP: 1.02)

5.  Dan Haren (@BOS, CLE) –  Haren vs. Lester will be an exciting duel, and he’ll face off against the upstart Indians at home. Haren 1-4 @ Fenway.(ERA: 1.23, WHIP: 0.75)

Sleepers

1.  Anibal Sanchez (@STL, WAS) – What’s the deal?  This guy should not be < 50% owned.  He almost tossed a no hitter this year. (ERA: 3.86, WHIP 1.38)

2.  Mark Buehrle (BAL, @SEA) – He’s had a tough stretch on the home, but should rebound against two bottom feeders in the AL.  (ERA: 5.12, WHIP: 1.34)

3.  Kyle McClellan (FLA, MIL) – Another guy who should not be < 50% owned.  4-0 on the Season.  He also has 3.00 ERA @ home.   (ERA: 3.23, WHIP: 1.43)

4.  Brandon McCarthy (TEX, @KC) – McCarthy is a hot pitcher that got rocked vs. the Angels in his last start.  Home cooking should help him this week. (ERA: 3.57, 1.27)

5.  James McDonald (@SD, HOU) – One of my 1st week picks started off shaky.  He shut out the Giants in is his last start.  Was he waiting for May? (ERA: 7.66, WHIP: 1.82)
