Fantasy Football Week 10: Start/Sit

It was a pretty good week for us last week! Josh Freeman notched 26 points in our start segment, while Jeremy Maclin and Greg Olsen both struggled. On the sit side, we were off on Chris Johnson, who managed 19 points, but were right on with Stevie Johnson and Martellus Bennett, who both registered under 6 points. Now let’s take a look at some of this week’s players!

Start

Joe Flacco QB Baltimore Ravens- Flacco struggled fantasy wise in October, scoring no more than 20 points in any of his games. However, the recipe for a struggling quarterback calls for a few teams, and the Oakland Raiders are one of them. Ray Rice should have a field day against this defense after what Doug Martin did last week, and that will only help Flacco, who should get to 20 points with ease and will hopefully get more.

I like Flacco this week over Matt Schaub, Andy Dalton, and Jay Cutler.

Jacquizz Rodgers RB Atlanta Falcons- Going down pretty far on the list here, but I have a really good feeling about Jacquizz. I feel like he is criminally underused in the diverse Atlanta offense, as I think he has the potential to be a Darren Sproles like player. Against a terrible New Orleans rushing defense, I expect Rodgers to get a ton of looks, especially considering this should be a high paced shootout.

If you need a flex start, go with Quizz over Pierre Thomas, Steven Jackson, and Shonne Greene.

Mike Williams WR Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Williams has been one of the best fantasy receivers in the past few weeks, registering at least 13 points in 4 of his last 5 games. This Tampa Bay offense is quietly becoming one of the most potent in the game, and while Vincent Jackson has gotten most of the attention, Williams has had his fair share of looks, and will continue to against San Diego this week.

This week, I’d go with Williams over Jeremy Maclin, Kenny Britt, and Stevie Johnson.

Sit

Andre Johnson WR Houston Texans- Andre Johnson has managed to stay healthy so far this year, and as a result, he is putting up some solid numbers. However, he has a rough matchup this week, as the Texans travel to Chicago to take on the vaunted Bears defense. Charles Tillman is having a monster year, and I expect him to do a good job of containing Andre while his buddies on the front seven keep pressure on Matt Schaub all game long.

I like Vincent Jackson, Torrey Smith, and Lance Moore over Andre Johnson this week.

Michael Vick QB Philadelphia Eagles- Despite struggling with turnovers on the field, and dealing with talks that his job isn’t secure, Vick has put up solid fantasy numbers all season long.  Vick has registered five straight 20+ games, but I expect that streak to end this week. The Cowboys have Brandon Carr and Maurice Claiborne to shut down Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. With those two covered, I expect Vick to press, make some mistakes, and have a tough day.

If you’re looking for a backup QB this week for Vick, look at Alex Smith, Russell Wilson, and Phillip Rivers.

Kyle Rudolph TE Minnesota Vikings- After bursting onto the scene in the first month of the season, Rudolph has all but disappeared from this offense. In fact, Rudolph has registered a goose egg in two of his last three games, with a terrible 2.4 point effort coming in between those. Truth is, there are a ton of players who I would put ahead of Rudolph at this moment, as he is no longer one of Ponder’s favorite targets.

At Tight End, go with Brandon Meyers, Greg Olsen, and Brandon Pettigrew over Rudolph this week.
