Fantasy Football Week 13: Start/Sit
We apologize for not getting a start/sit up last week, but the Holiday filled up my schedule. I hope everyone had a great weekend with their loved ones. Looking back on my predictions from two weeks ago, I was mostly off sadly. On the positive side, Andy Dalton exploded for 32, and Matt Forte struggled, putting up just 7 points. However, Rashard Mendenhall and Darrius Heyward-Bey both struggled in our start segment, while Dez Bryant and Vernon Davis both put up great numbers in the sit section. Let’s look at this week’s players.
Knowshon Moreno RB Denver Broncos– All the talk coming out of Denver all last week was that Ronnie Hillman would be carrying the load for Denver. However, Moreno was a surprise active Sunday morning, and he went on to have a fantastic performance. Moreno is slotted to be the guy once again in Denver, so if you grabbed him off the waiver wire, don’t hesitate to put him in against Tampa Bay, as that game will likely be a shootout.
I like Moreno this week over Marcel Reece, Steven Jackson, and Shonn Greene.
Justin Blackmon WR Jacksonville Jaguars– Well who would have thought it would take Chad Henne to finally get the rookie receiver going. After struggling all year, Blackmon has put up 32 and 16 points in the last two weeks. He doesn’t figure to slow down this week, as the Jags have a great matchup with the Bills coming up this week. Expect another double digit performance from Blackmon.
Go with the rookie over Michael Crabtree, Antonio Brown, and Denarius Moore this week.
Dallas Clark TE Tampa Bay Buccaneers– Clark hasn’t been a huge factor for the Bucs so far this season, but in the past few weeks, he has reemerged as a threat on a suddenly very potent offense. They are going up against Denver, and while that young D is very talented, they do struggle against the tight end, giving up the 29th most points to that position all year.
I’d go with Clark over Kyle Rudolph, Martellus Bennett, and Heath Miller
Colin Kaepernick QB San Francisco 49ers– The young kid has been a hot commodity on the waiver wire, and a lot of people are likely looking his direction this week. However, at St Louis is a surprisingly tough place to play, and I think that Kaepernick could struggle in this one. He didn’t put up great numbers last week, and if he makes a mistake or two, he could feel Alex Smith breathing down his neck.
I like a bunch of guys over Kaepernick this week, including Josh Freeman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Chad Henne.
Greg Jennings WR Green Bay Packers– I know what you’re thinking if you are a Jennings owner. Whether you held onto him from the start, or picked him up off the waiver wire, you are likely eager to get him in now that he is expecting a full work load. However, it is very likely that Jennings plays a set number of snaps, as the Packers want to save him for the playoff push. Jennings is always capable of a big play, but I think this week will be more a trial run then a full-fledged attack.
Bench Jennings in favor of Davone Bess, Jeremy Maclin, and Pierre Garcon.
Brent Celek TE Philadelphia Eagles- This basically goes for anyone on the now horrendous Eagles offense. Well, everyone except Bryce Brown. Celek registered just three points last week, and I don’t think this will change much this week. Celek has had a very down season, and with Foles throwing the passes, this doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon.
Celek should be at the bottom of your bench, and ahead of him should be Scott Chandler, Mercedes Lewis, and Greg Olsen.
