Fantasy Football Week 14: Start/Sit
Well last week, I picked mostly duds. Now for half of the segment, that’s great. Young Colin Kaeprenick was the biggest stud of the group at 19 points, while Celek also got double digits with 10 points. Greg Jennings was slow out of the gate as we predicted he would, notching just 6 points. However, on the starter side, Knowshon Moreno and Dallas Clark were tops for us at 9 points, while Justin Blackmon notched a fat half a point. Let’s hope we do better this week!
Chris Givens-WR St Louis Rams-Givens had 14 targets last week, and without Danny Amendola, he’s Bradford’s favorite target. Givens has put up back to back double digits point games, and he should be a big part of a game that figures to be a shootout. Combine that with his favorable matchup against a porous secondary, and I like him to have a big game.
This week, I like Givens over James Jones, Mike Wallace, and Michael Crabtree.
Vick Ballard RB Indianapolis Colts – Donald Brown is out, and Vick Ballard is the kind of player who you can pick up and help aid you to a playoff win. This offense is cruising, and more importantly, Tennessee is giving up the most points to running backs. Expect him to be the center of the offense, and get a ton of touches. He should also have a good shot at the endzone.
Bench players like Ryan Matthews, Matt Forte, and Michael Turner in favor of Ballard this week.
Matt Schaub QB Houston Texans– Schaub put up one of the best games of the year a few weeks ago, putting 57 points on Jacksonville. Since then, he got two 25 point games, and now he’s going up against New England. That defense doesn’t scare anyone, and on a huge Monday Night Game, I expect Schaub to have a big game in what should be a shootout.
I like Schaub over Andy Dalton, Jay Cutler, and Russell Wilson this week.
Stevie Johnson WR Buffalo Bills– Johnson has the big name to be an every week starter, but if you look at his stats, he isn’t that. Johnson’s max point effort all season long has been 15 points, and for the most part, he’s a 10 points per game player. He is bothered by a bad hamstring this week, and you have to figure Cortland Finnegan will be making his life miserable.
Bench Stevie in favor of guys like Sidney Rice, Steve Smith, and Greg Jennings.
Mikel Leshoure RB Detroit Lions– On paper, Leshoure has been a solid option not only for fantasy teams, but for the Lions themselves. However, he has yet to register a 100 yard game all season long. Last week, he averaged less than three yards a carry, and considering that they should be passing it a lot from behind against Green Bay, I don’t think he will be a big factor.
There are a bunch of running backs I like more than Leshoure, including Benjarvus Green Ellis, Darren Sproles, and Shonn Greene.
Tony Romo QB Dallas Cowboys– The Cowboys have won three out of their last four games to get back into the playoff discussion, and Romo has been the key behind that run. Romo has been average 30 points a game, and he figures to have another big game Sunday. However, they are travelling to Cincinnati, who is dominating on defense. They are allowing just over 10 points a game in their last four, and I think they force Romo into some mistakes, leading to a tough loss.
If you have Matt Ryan, Colin Kaeprnick, or Joe Flacco, put them in instead of Romo.
